Worth Watching

A friend of mine (Thanks, Caleen) just passed a link to a video blog along to me that I think is worth your while. If nothing else, it will definitely bring a little sunshine into your day.

The Reflections of Christ photography exhibit, by artist Mary Mabry, is a collaborative effort of many to teach about Jesus. The primary goal of the project was to create photographs that could cast new light on our perceptions of Christ. The images from the Reflections of Christ exhibit are at the TempleVisitors Center in Mesa, Arizona (though I should add that they transcend any one denomination). I think the plan is to make this a traveling exhibit in the future.

is set to an amazing compilation of “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” performed by Clyde Bawden, Freddie Ashby and renowned cellist Hope Sheaperd.

At 11-something p.m. Saturday night, my sister Kelly and her husband Mike became first-time parents to an adorable little boy without a name.

Congratulations Mike and Kelly!

We love you and can't wait to meet little no-name soon.

Denver Whirlwind

We finally met Taylor, the newest Burt, on a quick trip to Denver last weekend.

Though Porter wasn't quite sure what to think of Taylor at first (lots of wary stares and quiet hellos), he did genuinely enjoy Taylor's toys. In fact, I'm considering breaking out the infant toys once more for Porter's second birthday rather than buying more toys that will simply be discarded after one use.

In addition to hanging out at Chris and Lori's (thanks for the visit Denver-Burts), we also did a little shopping, visited some friends and went to the zoo. Porter served as tour guide, and all went smoothly.

I was pretty excited for Porter's first trip to the zoo because he loves pretending to be different animals as of late. But it was kind of anti-climactic when Porter's favorite animals wound up being the birds and the fish.

Next time, we'll start with the monkeys and elephants rather than the pelicans and prarie dogs.

No worries though, we enjoyed a sunny afternoon with our pals. And even got a family photo out of the deal (if you check this blog regularly, you know most pics we post are either of just Porter or of Porter and Andy). So, in case you're curious, here's what the Burt family looks like as of late (Porter's face is more accurate than you might think. He's started fake-laughing at nearly everything he does as of late, which results in this cheesy, raised eyebrow grin).

And just for fun, if there was ever any doubt that Andy was Porter's dad, I think this pic will settle the debate.
